Where Does Inspiration Come From?
What’s Your Source of Inspiration?
The source of inspiration is not limited to feel good origins. The funny thing about inspiration is that it can come from anyplace, good or bad. Experiences or mental states can represent bad places and yet, they can inspire actions that are meant for good. How often have you had bad experiences that have inspired you to do good?
Inspiration can seemingly come to you out of the blue. Perhaps inspiration will surface as you sit on your front porch watching the sunset. It may surface while you sip on an ice-cold glass of sweet tea on a hot summer’s eve. Inspiration can come from a single raindrop landing on your nose as you scurry to take shelter before e a torrential downpour.
How about the inspiration stemming from that sweet baby or grandbaby of yours that you live for and without question, for whom you would die? Inspiration can come as you hold a slow, yet steady stride during a surprisingly, albeit welcomed cool breeze signaling the onset of the fall season. There is nothing like a walk to clear the clutter in you mind caused by the events of the day. A clutter free mind creates a pathway for inspiration.
Let us not forget about the wise words often spoken by elders that inspire and catapult you into the next phases of your life’s journey.
Inspiration: No Short Supply
Among other sources, you may encounter an inspirational moment from the likes of:
- Little girls and boys playing on the playground
- The homeless sleeping and taking cover under bridges
- A good book, be it the Bible of otherwise
- Good customer service as well as poor customer service
- A lover, husband, wife or friend
- A good hearty meal or family dinner signaling tradition
- A talk or other television show
- A leader, follower or team player
- The sky, the ground, the floor, a door……..
Inspiration comes in all shapes, forms, and sizes. It may be a voice that sounds like yours, but the words are of someone else. Never disregard inspiration simply because it came or comes form an unexpected or unlikely source. That would be akin to killing the messenger for delivering a message he didn’t initiate.
Sit, stand, walk, observe, listen: there is inspiration everywhere.
Be inspired.
