Life’s Little Disappointments
What to do When Faced With Life’s Disappointments?
The answer may sound simpler than it really is but you just keep on living. That’s the answer: You just keep on living. Anyone reading this post knows that life will disappoint you sometimes. Disappointment is inevitable no matter how hard we try to avoid it. It’s been said that any time another person is involved, then you run the risk of disappointment. The reason that this is true is because you can only control your own actions and not the actions of others.
But What Happens When You Are the Source of Despair?
Sometimes life does not disappoint us. Every now and then, it’s our own actions that cause the disappointment. That kind of disappointment probably disturbs us more than any other kind of disappointment. The result can cause us to fall into a sinkhole of despair with seemingly no hope in sight. But I am here to tell you that there is hope and you’re it. If you have fallen prey to a sudden dismal outlook, you can get up and climb out by
- acknowledging your role in the disappointment
- recognizing the lesson learned
- vowing to not make the same mistake again and
- begin to process what you can do now to move forward and leave the disappointment behind.
There is not a single thing that you can do to change the past (unless you own a time machine, which I doubt). But you are limitless when it comes to the possibilities of the here and now and your future.
Bury the Disappointment
Let’s give disappointment its burial by focusing on aspects that can turn that spirit of disappointment into a spirit of Unlimited Power. Unless you are lying on your death bed, you have far too much life left to live without the disruptive power that you give to life’s little hiccups.
