Don’t Die Without First Having Lived
So Whatcha Doin’ Now?
I’ve done a lot of things in my lifetime particularly when it came to supporting my family of 2. By choice I have owned a hair salon, a desktop publishing business, started an investment group for women, attempted to start a hair style magazine (derailed by photographer’s poor photographs), I’ve owned a real estate and property management company and I’m still an active licensed real estate agent in the State of Alabama, just to name a few. Then there are those things that I have done as a matter of survival when I would have rather been doing something else, but you take the good with the bad. As a matter of fact, I have had so many streams of income, ventures and adventures, that I used to dread when people asked me “whatcha doin’ now?”
Most commonly that question came from the people who were one-dimensional. You know the ones whose only goal in life after high school or college is simply “to get a job”, any job, work that job for 50 years and then retire. That is so “not” how I see my life. I think Lou Rawls said it best when he sang “I don’t want no gold watch for working 50 years from 9 to 5.” That pretty much sums up my attitude and quite frankly, I’d rather buy my own gold watch.
Don’t Die Without First Having Lived
The last time someone asked me that question years ago, she was delighted when I told her that I had one of those dreaded jobs. When I told her what I was doing, she responded “Good, cause you didn’t know what you wanted to.” I guess she caught me on a good day (or a bad one depending on how you look it), but I quickly retorted “No that’s where you’re wrong. You see I’ve always known what I wanted to do and I’ve done it all. Everything that I’ve set my mind to to do, I’ve done it. There are people who have died and will die without having been able to say that.”
Don’t be one of those people. Live the life that you dream about or at least die trying.
- Start that business.
- Take that cruise.
- Travel to China.
- Go back to school (it doesn’t matter whether you’re pursing a GED or a college degree) Just do it!!!!!!!
- Make your mind up today that you are going “LIVE” before you die.
To this very day, I pursue the things that I want in my life and feel strongly aboutI still pursue the life that I see in my dreams (including this blog which I have been wanting to do for quite some time). If you are reading this post, I hope you don’t die without first having lived. If that sounds like you, Hit the Reset Button on Your Life right now. Live before you die.
