It’s Time to Reset the Dress

I absolutely love dresses especially in the spring and summer. Warm weather ignites a fire in me that smolders during the winter months. Cold weather leaves me longing for the dresses and high heels hanging and stacked dormant in my closet for months.

Swapping out my closets as the seasons shift from the icy chill of winter to the warm embrace of spring fills my heart with pure joy. It’s as if I want to don every single piece of my vibrant spring and summer wardrobe all at once! Admittedly, the struggles of 2020 had dulled my fashion spark, trapping me in a monotonous cycle of jeans and t-shirts for far too long. But everything began to change in 2024. When the blossoms of spring burst forth, I was determined to rekindle my love for dressing to match the seasons, to embrace my true self, and to rediscover the dazzling, vibrant Charita I was before 2020!

I absolutely adore dresses—it’s a deep, abiding love that fills my soul! I proudly wear the crown of the Dress Queen. In the 80’s and 90’s, skirts were my obsession; now, I’m on a thrilling quest to weave more of that charm into my wardrobe. While I possess a small collection of skirts and blouses, the true treasure trove of my closet remains overwhelmingly filled with the stunning dresses that lure me to the racks as I’m shopping!

So, what defines my style? It’s a vibrant explosion of bold colors, impeccably fitted silhouettes, and stunningly simple yet beautiful dresses that ignite a sense of joy within me.

I teamed up the dress with these cute Kelly and Katie Melicity Sandals from DSW. They call the color beige, but honestly, there’s a nice peachy vibe to them, which makes them way more stylish than just plain beige.

So, about those accessories— I scored the necklace at TJ Maxx, and no joke, I found the earrings at Big Saver Thrift in Bessemer, AL!

I picked up this cute rose gold ring from Kohl’s a while ago. With the dress, necklace, and ring, I felt like I was already set, so I didn’t even think about adding a bracelet.

I know they say words can make or break your day, but let me tell you about the day I donned this outfit. Picture me in Walmart, innocently pushing my cart, when a lady in one of those mobile carts zoomed up and asked for my name. Now, I immediately sensed she mistook me for a someone she knew. She threw a couple more questions my way, and after a quick chat, she complimented my dress and said, “You are so beautiful!” Normally, I fumble when it comes to responding to compliments, but that day I felt like a million bucks in my outfit! So, I flashed my best grin, thanked her like I was accepting an award, and off we went, each on our own quest to complete our shopping!

Like I said at the start, my motto is “look good, feel good,” and let me tell you, on that day, I nailed it! I was so fabulous even my mirror did a double take!
