A Young Author’s Story: Nikolas Alston

Sometimes, you discover a young person doing something that reminds you just how much creativity and determination can live inside a child.

On Saturday, January 12, 2019, I’ll have the pleasure of talking with 10-year-old author Nikolas Alston during a segment on the Joe Lockett Show on WXJC 101.1 FM at 4:00 p.m. CST.

Nikolas has written a short book about his experience transitioning from public school to homeschool. Let me tell you, he did a wonderful job. The book is fun, detailed, and a clear example of the creativity that lives inside a child’s mind.

I first met Nikolas when he participated in the Metro Birmingham Children’s Business Fair. I was able to get a draft copy of his book before the printed copies were available. But that didn’t stop him from taking presale orders!

In addition to our conversation about his book, Nikolas will join the Love Hate Debate discussion about bullying. This is another important conversation, and one that parents and children should make time to hear.

So, make plans to tune in to the Joe Lockett Show on Saturday, January 12, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. CST.

Let’s encourage young authors, celebrate creativity, and make room for children to share their voices.
