The Statements We Make Without Saying a Word
Before you answer that question I’d like you to give it some thought. Your answer may be singular or it may depend on the statement you’re trying to make. Let’s talk about ways in which a statement can be made.
How You Dress

This, of course, is one way to make a statement.
Your clothes can tell a story, or your appearance can be rather unassuming. But for just a minute, let’s say you’re intentionally making a statement with what you wear.
The suit in this photo, to me, makes a statement. It radiates confidence, control, a strong presence, and the ability to command a room. It’s definitely going to grab attention, whether good or bad.
Since that’s me in the photo, let me just say that my intention wasn’t to make a statement. I simply loved the suit the minute I laid eyes on it.
I’m not usually one who likes to draw attention to myself. But if I were intentionally trying to do so, I’d definitely wear this suit with that purpose in mind.
How You Enter a Room or Show Up

Are you the life of the party? Do you brighten every room you enter? If so, why is that?
Is it because people can hardly wait for you to arrive? Or, on the contrary, do they dread the thought of your arrival? Perhaps people never know what to expect from you because you’re full of surprises.
The experience can be quite different when you enter a room where the people in attendance don’t know you. There’s an air of mystery about you, and people may become instantly curious. Or, on the other hand, they may not give your presence a second thought.
Back to the point.
Do you make a statement by the way you enter a room? Are you intentional about how you show up? Does your stride or stroll announce your entrance without a word being spoken? Or do you quietly enter and blend in, seemingly unnoticed?
Here’s the thing: No matter how you enter a room, a statement is being made. It doesn’t matter whether your entrance speaks loudly and clearly or whether you choose a more subdued approach.
