Ever Feel Like You Just Don’t Fit In?

Be Proud to Be Different and Not Fit In

There is a door leading to a place where you fit in.

There is a door leading to a place where you fit in.

Do you ever have that feeling that you just don’t fit in anywhere?  Nothing really weird or strange about you, but you just don’t seem to fit into any particular group or God forbid “a clique.”   Well I’m here to tell you that it’s okay not to fit in.  People often don’t like being around people that are different.  Not because of anything that they have said or done, but just because they don’t understand people not like themselves.

What to do when you don’t fit in?  Create your own space where you are always welcome.  Lavish in the wonder that is you.  Relish the thought that you don’t fit into any mold and that being you is all that you ever want to be.

If you ever feel like you have to force yourself on people for them to like you, then you’re probably in bad company anyway, so run along and run fast.  But if you are dying to fit in somewhere…. anywhere, try finding people who share your interest.  Do you like to bike, hike or enjoying exercising overall?  Surely there are places and groups where you can hang out with others that share these interests.

Do you have any hobbies?  Perhaps join a group that gets together to explore and share this hobby.  You’ll probably get to meet some nice people who have something in common with you.

Have you ever heard of Meetup.com?   There are tons of groups that meet regularly and the really cool thing about Meetup.com is that the meetups are centered around particular interests of its members.  There are groups for adventurers, book lovers, mountain climbers, social networking, over 40’s groups, 30 and under groups, you name it, there is probably a group for it.  And if there isn’t, guess what?  You can start one.

I just stumbled upon the following by someone named  on a site called Elephant Journal and I think this is awesome:

I just don’t fit in.
I just don’t.
I never have and I never will.
To fit in, is to blend in.
To blend in is to be ordinary.
I was never meant for ordinary,
I was destined for extraordinary.
How do I know?
The extraordinary never fit in, ever.

Don’t worry too much about not fitting in.  It takes special kinds of people to understand you.

Hit the reset button and surround yourself with people who really like you for who you are.
