It’s Always Something: Doubt. Fear. Life Interuppted.

Roseanne Rosannadanna

In the days when I used to watch Saturday Night Live, Gilda Radner’s character would always crack me up.  I always looked forward to her sketches. Many of you will remember her famous line “it’s always something.” No matter how many times I heard her utter those words, it was just as funny as the first time I heard her say it.

In the context of this post,  Roseanne Rosannadanna’s words remind me that life is a series of interruptions.  Along with life interrupted, there are always accompanying lessons or messages worth learning and sharing.  The last post that I wrote, “Serial Entrepreneur” prompted a few people to contact me and let me know that they needed that message.  Whether it was doubt, fear or discouragement of some kind, they needed to hear or read at that moment that pushing forward was a worthwhile activity.

When we get discouraged, sometimes we don’t want people to know, or we don’t want to say anything to anybody.  Maybe it’s because we’re embarrassed, doubtful or simply lacking focus. It could also be that we don’t want to disappoint others.  Whatever the reason, we tend to forget that we don’t own the patent on bumps in the road.   We are not the only ones that experience setbacks and doubts.  In times where we are encountering “something”, somewhere in the world there are millions of other people experiencing that very same “something.”  On the other hand, in those same moments, there are millions of others that have just lifted their heads out of the sand. They are springing back into action with more vigor and vitality as ever.

It’s Always Something

When it comes to, “it’s always something” the only remedy is a plan of action of some sort to counter that “something.”  For the most part, life is great, but there are times when it’s always something or someone tossing a monkey wrench in your groove. Sometimes that person can be you. When you think about it, you’ve probably overcome more than you care to recollect.  But the beauty of that is that each time, you managed to get around that “something” that temporarily threw you off of your game (or tried to throw you off).

Finally, everyone without exception, occasionally faces the “it’s always something” beast.  No matter how together a person’s life may seem, a fault in the road is inevitable.  But what separates one from another is the way they deal with it.
