The Comfort Zone

The Ever Present Comfort Zone

Comfort Zone

Confines of a comfort zone

In the comments section of a blog post that I read the other day, someone mentioned that they had stepped out of their comfort zone.  Immediately a blog post started circulating in my head and this is the result.

The term “comfort zone” is a situation or position in which a person feels secure, comfortable, or in control.  It’s not a new concept but it’s a reliable one.  The comfort zone can set boundaries around your true potential and serve as a barrier to presenting your greatest self to the world.  Have you ever considered that your comfort zone may be keeping you from sharing your gift with the world?  The comfort zone can be like being closed in a confined space much like solitary confinement.

You may be reading this and saying “that’s easy for you to say” but let me be the first to tell you, that I better than many, understand the fierce grip of the “comfort zone.”  The comfort zone is the stronghold that tells you not to do something that would tremendously benefit you, the world, or if not the world, your immediate sphere.  Through your sphere, your gift then reaches others exponentially when your  sphere boasts to their sphere how they’ve been blessed by the gift or you.

Passion Shatters the Comfort Zone Glass

This is not a post that looks down on others for remaining in that place of comfort.  I understand it and I understand the reasons why people stay there.   However, what I am saying is that if your heart has a passion for something that your comfort zone is holding hostage, then you owe it to yourself to seek ways to shatter that glass.  Shattering the glass that is the comfort zone is not for everyone. But for those that have the want to step outside of that zone, it’s possible.

Sometimes the comfort zone keeps you from connecting with other passionate people.  Sometimes the comfort zone keeps you from answering the call a.k.a. YOUR calling.  Your passion is your gift and in no uncertain terms, our gifts are in some ways, a public service.
